Reflections in August.
|
|
The early morning light in August is different to other months,
then it might be the way I have seen it this year.
When the weather is too hot, I prefer walking out
early in the morning taking my camera with me.
By a small river I noticed how intensified the
reflections in the water were. Mirrored images in water
hold a romantic fascination as they are linked in my
mind to the the mythological story of Narcissus.

An extract from the full story at link below:
"One day the youth Narcissus came to this pool heated and thirsty, fatigued from
hunting. He stooped down to drink and saw his own image in the water.
He thought it was some beautiful water-spirit living in the fountain.
He stood, gazing with admiration at those bright eyes, those locks curled
like the locks of Bacchus or Apollo and fell in love with his own image.
He tried to embrace the image but it fled at the touch, but returned again
after a moment and renewed the fascination. He could not tear himself away.
He lost all thought of food or rest while he hovered over the brink of the
fountain gazing upon his own image." Read more about Narcissus at this link

During my walks I had interesting encounters with some real characters, some
I managed to capture on camera. The tiny green frog was too quick for me and disappeared into the
stream, a huge scottish deerhound wouldn't stand still long enough -
a magnificent animal.
